  About Us

Have you ever been concerned about the relationship between the arts and the faith sector in your work? Then it may be of comfort to know that www.faithandthearts.com can help fill in the gaps of your knowledge.

Faith and the Arts was developed to keep arts professionals and educators informed about relevant issues related to religion in their work. The website provides access to research papers, editorials, opinion, news coverage, case studies and event listings exploring the relationship between art and faith.

We provide access to easy-to-read information on the following religions: Baha’i, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Jain, Judaism, Rastafari and Sikhism, looking at art forms within each religion, religious rulings that affect the arts, and other information that can help with your marketing and planning.

If you work in programming, marketing, outreach, education, venue management or catering, Faith and the Arts can provide answers to your questions about individual faith beliefs and their impact on arts engagement and service delivery.

Faith and the Arts is also a valuable learning resource for students and teachers exploring the faith and arts agenda. The website provides a one stop resource for research, case studies and features on the world’s leading faiths providing an accessible and practical resource for everyday use.

The website places YOU are in control:  We welcome editorial content, feature articles, event listing and artist profiles. Our media page allows you to share video, audio and photographic footage of your projects.

The Faith and the Arts project was originally developed in August 2004 and identified a need to address issues related to the growing diversity of faith groups in the UK and provide a resource where arts professionals could research the relationship between faith beliefs and their work. Since the launch of the project, new sections for the Baha’I and Jain faiths have been added in response to user feedback. Today the website receives in excess of 19,000 unique visitors per month.
